Julin Printing Company's History

In 1949, Newsweek became the first magazine, on microfilm, offered to subscribers; RCA introduced the 45 RPM record; and Julin Printing Company opened its doors. Over fifty years later subscribers are receiving magazines over the internet and CD's have replaced records, but in the quiet but growing, mid-western town of Monticello, Iowa, Julin Printing Company is still going strong.

Founded by Bill & Ruth Julin, a professional couple from Chicago, Illinois, Julin Printing Co. has grown steadily for over half a century. Bill, with a background in advertising, and Ruth, an accountant, had the perfect combination of business sense and attention to detail to create a profitable business known for it's unimpeachable standards. Bill Julin was a perfectionist in printing. He had the highest ethics and the job had to be right before it was allowed out the door. Quality and integrity remain hallmarks of Julin Printing Company.

  • In February of 1988, the business was purchased by William C. Brown Publishing.
  • In 1993, Julin changed hands again when William C. Brown was purchased by Times-Mirror Co, Inc.
  • In 1995, John A. Williams along with a partner was able to purchase Julin Printing Company.
  • In 1998 John A. Williams became sole owner of Julin Printing Company.
